A Whole new meaning
After two days
of being locked in the house with two little girls who would have much rather
been at school than "enjoying" snow days at home, I decided to
venture out.
Friday wasn't
so much a snow day as it was a Holy crap! People in the DC Metro area cannot drive
on ice day. This, of course, is no surprise to anyone who has lived
in the area for, oh say, ten minutes during the winter.
By early
afternoon the mercury had passed 40 degrees and the sun was shining brightly,
the salt and sand trucks had been out and the insane drivers were either at
their destinations or the repair shops.
Reagan's
teacher called and asked if there was any way we would be able to bring in some
more food for the food baskets for the needy our church was preparing. It seems
the snow days had had an impact on the amount of donations brought in by the
students.
Yea! An excuse
- and a good one - to get out of the house.
Off to Target
we went to pick up some non-perishables and to kill some time with a change of
scenery.
We found
ourselves in the Christmas decorations and made sure we looked at and tested
every one.
Of particular
interest were the singing squeezers from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
McKinley liked the Snow Monster. Reagan liked Hermey.
After several
minutes, I reminded them why we were there and we headed off to the food
section.
Walking
through Target while Reagan entertained us with song ala Hermey. Well, sort
of...
"Why
am I such a mistress. I am not just a mistress."
